BD's latest update to its Spot headlamp line, while incremental, maintains this light's high functionality for backpackers, climbers, trail runners, backcountry skiers and other users. The Spot350 lit up moonless nights for the Hiking Resources tester during a six-day rafting and kayaking trip down the Green River through Desolation and Gray canyons, demonstrating the reliability and versatility it has on many past adventures, such as getting up primat dawn to beat the heat a 120km backpacking trip through the Grand Canyon in May and early morningsrimto dawn and dark evenings on a 151km traverse of the CDT in Glacier National Park in September.

The main update is an increase in maximum brightness to 350 lumens, casting a beam nearly 300 feet (BD claims 86 meters, or 282 feet), bright enough for climbers looking for a descent route in the dark, the trail runners and backcountry skiers on missions primat dawn and certainly to walk a dark path. The Spot350 will burn for almost four hours at maximum power sopra three AAA batteries.

As prima, the low profile design, characterized by two buttons that simplify selectionone of the mode—use the larger button to turn it onone and turning it off is for the functionsone of adjustmentsone of brightness (in all modes), while the smaller button toggles three modes: white beam, peripheral white mode and red for facesone nocturnal. The workone strobo activates when you double-click the large button in all three modes.

BD's PowerTap technology—found in other BD headlights—allows you to simply tap the right side of the housing to switch between maximum brightness and dimming level.one set previously. The brightness memory technology This means the Spot350 turns on in the mode and brightness level it was last turned off.

In lighting modesone peripheral, the wide beam projects light evenly at medium intensity to organize gear or illuminate the interior of a campsite or tent, without smearing or having an annoying dark spot in the center. TO low power, six lumens, the beam carries eight meters and BD says it lasts 200 hours on three AAA batteries. I've taken numerous multi-day trips with all Spot models, including hiking in the dark and normal camping use, without the batteries dying.

The easy and foolproof workone block it turns on and off by pressing both buttons for a few seconds. There classificationone IPX8 means it is impervious to more one meter for 30 minutes.

Il thin band it is wide enough to rimare comfortable for hours, and the battery compartment opens easily with rotationone with a small lever, without the need for tools.

BD's Spot325 differs largely in that it has minimally lower brightness than maximum power - it is essentially imperceptible -

The verdict

The Black Diamond Spot350 is not rechargeable, but for brightness, versatility, features, weight and price, it is still a superior value in an ultralight headlamp for backpackers, hikers, mountain climbers, trail runners, backcountry skiers and other users.
