CYCLING AND MTB GLASSES WITH INTERCHANGEABLE LENSES

The world of cycling is constantly evolving with new technologies and materials, all aimed at improving athlete performance. Providing the best cycling experience is a fundamental aspect that every enthusiast or competitor seeks in every outing with their beloved bicycle.

Every component, from the tires and frame to the gear, clothing, glasses, and other accessories, is chosen with extreme care based on the specific needs of the cyclist.

Whether you practice road cycling or mountain biking, it is essential to choose glasses that protect your eyes not only from light and wind but also from projections such as dust, insects, leaves, and branches (especially for mountain bikers). The glasses should also be resistant to breakage and offer maximum protection in the event of accidental impacts.

DEMON has created a line of cycling glasses with interchangeable lenses for both mountain biking and road cycling. These glasses are dedicated to enhancing athlete performance while providing maximum protection and eye safety.

Lens Features:

    • Shatterproof lenses:

The interchangeable lenses for cycling and MTB glasses are made of anti-breakage polycarbonate, which is fundamental for the safety of your eyes during outings. These lenses, in addition to being lighter than those made with conventional materials, have a greater resistance factor. In the event of strong impacts, such as a fall or an impact against a branch or a stone raised by the cyclist in front of you, they will not break cleanly.
The interchangeable lenses used for cycling glasses are designed to withstand strong impacts without generating fragments that could come into contact with your eyes. Instead, they form a "cobweb" effect, which compromises the lens but absorbs the impact and disperses it across the entire surface without breaking.

    • Perfect vision:

Often underestimated by many athletes, another fundamental aspect of lenses for cycling, especially for MTB, is the sense of depth. Using a decentralized and optically perfect lens allows the athlete not only to have a perfect sense of the depth of the path but also to see an object or obstacle exactly where it is.
For example, consider a rider on an MTB outing facing a difficult and narrow passage at a very slow speed. With a decentralized and optically perfect lens, the rider can see exactly where to place the wheel. If the lens lacks these characteristics, it risks causing visual distortion and an incorrect sense of depth, which can be off by up to 5 cm. Using technical materials not only enhances performance but can make the difference between success and failure at critical points.

    • Protection from the air: The lenses are designed to be enveloping, providing optimal protection for the athlete's eyes from the wind while also ensuring ventilation to prevent fogging. They also protect against dust, insects, and small pebbles that may be kicked up by the cyclist in front of you.

Types of lenses:

The interchangeable cycling lenses for MTB and racing bikes feature DCHANGE technology. Each model is equipped with a simple lens attachment/release system that allows you to change the lenses in just a few seconds. On our YouTube channel, Demon_Sunglasses, there are video tutorials demonstrating how to change lenses for each model in the collection.

Below are the specifications of each interchangeable lens for cycling and MTB glasses in our collections:

    • Smoke Lens Category 3:

The category 3 smoke lens is commonly defined as "the mirrored lens." Internally, it is colored smoke (similar to the darkness of common sunglasses) and externally, it is often characterized by strong mirroring. This particular lens is generally used for practicing road cycling in both sunny and cloudy weather. It is important to note that unlike MTB, road cycling involves fewer changes in light conditions, so even if the weather is cloudy, the lens is not too dark.
For those who practice mountain biking, this lens is suitable for intense and very intense sunny days. However, it is important to specify that if the route includes long stretches of dense brush, even if the sun is very intense, we recommend using an orange lens. If the route is mixed, the smoke lens can be used and guarantees excellent performance.
The advantage of using this interchangeable lens for road or MTB cycling is the sense of relaxation for the eyes, even with very prolonged use and under very intense sun.

    • Orange lens category 2:

This interchangeable lens for road and MTB cycling is primarily used for mountain biking. It is preferred over the smoke lens if the chosen route includes long stretches of very dense forest with poor visibility or on cloudy weather days.
For road cyclists, it can be used on cloudy or rainy days. However, using an orange lens affects the aesthetics of the glasses, and often, even on less intensely sunny days, cyclists prefer to use the mirrored lens for aesthetic reasons rather than practical ones.

    • Transparent lens category 1:

The transparent interchangeable lens for mountain bikes is essential for night outings. It protects the eyes from air, leaves, branches, insects, dust, and other obstacles on the path without "darkening" the view.
For road bikes, night rides are rarer except for specific events or occasional situations. If your plans include some night outings with your road bike, we recommend considering this lens.
Whether for road cycling or MTB, you can also use this lens on very cloudy or rainy days.

Frame features:

The frame of the cycling and MTB glasses with interchangeable lenses is made of TR90, a special composition of nylon and carbon fiber. This material guarantees 20% more lightness than conventional materials, greater mechanical resistance to traction and impacts, and improved structural integrity of the lens gearbox. This special material gives the glasses with interchangeable lenses greater durability over time.
The rubberized parts inside the temples and the rubber on the nose piece are made of Megol, a special plastic material known for its non-slip properties and softness. Some models have an internal aluminum plate that allows adjustment of the nose pad.

For those who use prescription glasses:

For those who need corrective lenses, models of eyeglasses for road cycling and mountain biking with interchangeable lenses have been created. It is possible to create and install corrective prescription lenses for cycling through your trusted optician.
